Egyptian Visa & Entry Requirements
British passport holders travelling to Egypt normally need a visa. If you wish to get a visa on arrival, the visa fee is US $25, (£20), payable in US dollars or pounds sterling or euros. If you wish, you can get a visa before you travel from the official website Visa2Egypt portal or your nearest Egyptian consulate.

Transfer Time
Grand Tour of Egypt transfer times from Sphinx International Airport to Cairo hotel: approximately 45–90 minutes.
Cairo to Luxor by sleeper train: approximately 9–11 hours overnight.
Aswan to Hurghada: approximately 7 hours by road, excluding any extended stops or delays.
Swiss Inn Hurghada resort to Hurghada Airport: approximately 15–45 minutes, depending on your hotel location and traffic.
Health Requirements
Consult your GP or travel clinic before departure about vaccinations and any malaria precautions. Use mosquito repellent and drink bottled water. Carry prescription medication in its original packaging and check any restrictions before travelling.
Currency
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP) Sterling is widely accepted. Cash is useful for smaller purchases, markets and gratuities, although credit and debit cards are accepted at many hotels, restaurants and larger shops. ATMs are widely available in resort areas.
Passports & Visas
British citizens require a valid passport and an entry visa to visit Egypt.
If you wish to obtain a visa on arrival, the current fee is US$25 (approximately £20), payable in US dollars, pounds sterling or euros.
Alternatively, you can obtain an e-Visa before you travel through the official Visa2Egypt portal or apply through your nearest Egyptian Consulate.
Your passport must be undamaged, have two blank pages and be valid for at least six months from arrival. Other nationalities should check their own requirements.
Important Information
Egypt is 2 hours ahead of the UK during winter and is generally 1 hour ahead during British Summer Time. . Bring a universal travel adaptor for 220V sockets. Take care in busy traffic and keep valuables secure. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required, as this holiday includes substantial walking, sightseeing, travel and occasional early starts.
Gratuities
Suggested tips are voluntary. All amounts are in GBP. As a guideline, see below:

Hotel Housekeeping: £1–£2 per room, per day
Restaurants: Around 5–10% if a service charge has not already been included
These are customary guidelines, and you can adjust based on the level of service and your comfort.
Dress Code
Pack lightweight clothing suitable for the warm climate, along with comfortable walking shoes or sandals.
Swimwear is appropriate at hotel pools and beaches. When visiting mosques, churches or local towns, dress modestly by covering shoulders and knees out of respect for local customs.
We also recommend bringing a light jumper or cardigan for air-conditioned areas and cooler evenings, together with a sun hat, sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen.
